Windows 8 Automated System Restore - No Progress Bar

If the Windows Recovery Environment within Microsoft Windows 8 detects a serious error, it may prompt the user to perform a System Restore.  If System Restore is selected, the screen changes to the Windows 8 Logo on a black screen without a progress bar or other indication that the System Restore is processing.  This is highly unusual and does not communicate enough information to the user.  It may appear the computer has frozen - however the drive lights are still active.  It is important to not interrupt the System Restore process.  After 10 to 20 minutes, System Restore should complete and automatically reboot the computer.  This should result in a fully working state.
